About GooberGuides™

The concept of GooberGuides has been rather evolutionary. After spending years participating and providing help in assorted support forums, conducting classes and having experienced trying to learn new software first hand, I began to forumulate (That's when you create an opinion based off numerous forum posts about the same issue.) that a concept like this may prove useful.

I first had the idea for the name during a shower one morning. I entertaned the idea for a day or two and as it normally happens, the daily events of life began to quickly drown it out. But it came back and began to nag at me. It got louder. And louder. And Louder. So much so that I could no longer ignore it and finally had to get it out of my head.

So here I am giving it the release it has been crying out for. I'm curious to see where it leads. You know what they say, you don't have to see the whole staircase, just the next step!

Why "Goober"?

My best friend and former co-worker and I used to look at one another, shrug our shoulders and say "What do we know? After all, we're just a couple of goobers". Meaning something like "Nerds" or "Geeks".

As a result, I've often used the term in a self-deprecating way. When I thought of my passion, helping others to do things with the products I use and love myself, it just seemed to be a natural fit. The "goober" was helping to "guide" folks along.

So there you have it. "In a nutshell", so to speak. (groan)

Who is behind this?

My name is Rick Stone. I live in Kansas City, MO. I've been recognized for years as an expert with the Adobe RoboHelp and Adobe Captivate products. I'm also recognized by Microsoft as a Microsoft Help MVP. With Adobe, I'm known as a Adobe Community Expert for these products as well as being a Adobe Certified Instructor. I actively participate in beta testing of new product versions and help shape their future. I am also a member of the Advisory Board for each product.

The key point here is that I'm not simply writing information about these products, I use them nearly every day and almost all day long. I also earn my living by conducting classes about them. If you are interested in a instructor led class, I offer those over at my ShowMe Solutions site.
